Enhancement Tips

  • +1 and +2 enhancements have 100% success rate - always do these first
  • First rune slot unlocks at +3, second at +6 - important power spikes
  • Success rate starts dropping significantly from +3 onwards (70% → 60% → 50%...)
  • On failure, your enhancement level drops by 1 and essences are consumed
  • Check the Craft Chance percentage before enhancing to see your odds
  • Enhancement bonus multiplies with your weapon's base multiplier
  • Consider stopping at +6 for the second rune slot without risking rare essences

The Forge Enhancement Guide & Upgrade Strategy 2026

Enhancing your gear is the single most effective way to increase your power in The Forge. While crafting determines your base stats, enhancement multipliers can double your damage output. This system rewards patience and resource management, as higher levels require rare Essences and carry the risk of downgrading your hard-earned equipment.

Essence Requirement Guide

  • Tiny Essence (+1 to +2): Dropped by common mobs in Stonewake's Cross. Easy to farm in bulk.
  • Medium Essence (+3 to +4): Found in the Forgotten Kingdom or crafted from 10 Tiny Essences.
  • Large Essence (+5 to +6): Dropped by Bosses and Elites in the Volcanic Depths.
  • Greater Essence (+7 to +10): Raid boss drops only (Ice Queen, Ancient Dragon). Extremely rare.

The "Fail" System

The Forge uses a punishing failure system. Early levels (+1, +2) are 100% safe. However, starting at +3, failing an enhancement will not only consume your Essences but also downgrade your item by one level.

Warning: There is a myth that +10 items break on failure. In the current patch, items do NOT break, providing a safety net for your Legendaries, but the level drop still applies.

Feature: Rune Slots

Enhancing isn't just about raw stats. Reaching specific milestones unlocks Rune Slots, allowing you to socket powerful gems that add effects like Lifesteal, Critical Chance, or Mana Regen.

+3 Milestone

Unlocks 1st Rune Slot. Essential for early game builds.

+6 Milestone

Unlocks 2nd Rune Slot. Available only on Epic+ gear.

Enhancement Strategy Guide

  • 1.
The "Safe +3" RushAlways upgrade every piece of gear to +3 immediately. The first rune slot provides a massive power spike, and getting to +2 is free (100% chance). You only risk one fail at +3.
  • 2.
Protection StonesSave your "Protection Stones" (Robux item or rare drop) for the +6 to +7 jump. This is the hardest wall in the mid-game, and preventing the drop back to +5 saves valuable Large Essences.
  • 3.
Don't Over-Enhance Bad GearNever take a non-Masterwork weapon past +6. The cost in Greater Essences is too high. Save your resources for potential God-tier rolls like a Galaxite Dragon Slayer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy Essences with Gold?

No, Essences are account-bound and cannot be traded or bought with gold. You must farm them yourself or craft lower tiers into higher tiers at the Alchemist.

What is the "Fail Stack" mechanic?

Unlike some other RPGs, The Forge does not have a fail stack system. Failing 10 times in a row does not increase your chance of success on the 11th try. It's pure RNG.

Does Luck affect Enhancement?

No. Luck stats only affect Drop Rates and Crafting quality (Common vs Legendary). It has zero effect on the success rate of enhancements.
